Versailles, Musee D'Orsay, et le Champs-Elysees

Today is Hailey's birthday!  What a lucky girl to be able to spend her birthday in Paris. :) Brooke, Bailey, Lauren, and I gave her the first Harry Potter book because she has never read them or seen the movies!  We went through and annotated the book with sticky notes of where our favorite parts were, put in references to the movie, and just fun notes along the way.  Hopefully that will convince her to read it quickly! :) This morning we took the train out to Versailles, but the line to enter the castle was about a 4 hour line, so we decided to walk through the gardens instead.  After that, we found a small bakery for lunch and decided to go with a quiche.  In the afternoon, we went to the Musee D'Orsay, which is home to many famous impressionist artwork by Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Degas, and many other artists.  The cool thing about this museum is that it was built inside an old train station, and it looks amazing!  There are no empty spaces inside this one!  We left the museum with enough time to get some ice cream in the Tuileries Garden and walk along the Champs-Elysees.  The Champs-Elysees is a huge street in Paris between the Arc de Triomphe and the Obelisk.  There are so many stores there, it was amazing!  We went to Naf Naf (a popular clothing store), Monoprix (a grocery store), Paris Saint Germain (famous soccer team store), and found some delicious macaroons!  Then we left to climb the Eiffel Tower!  We got to the second level up and the view was breathtaking.  Luckily, we ended up getting to the top at sunset, so the pictures are fantastic. :)

This is the twin of our Statue of Liberty in New York.

Amazing ice cream here - they make it in the shape of flowers!

Best macaroons ever!

We climbed soo many stairs, and they were kinda close together like this.

You could stand on the glass floor and look down!

The view from level one!
