We woke up at 3:30 this morning! It was a little rough to be honest.. We got out the door at 4:00 to catch a bus to the train station and boarded the Eurostar Chunnel, which is a train that goes directly under the English Channel from London to Paris. We arrived at the Gare du Nord (North Train Station) in Paris around 9:00 so we could spend all day discovering France! Our first stop was a large cathedral about an hour out of Paris called Chartres. Our group was lucky enough to book a tour with an incredible British tour guide that gave tours to many well known people, such as Richard Nixon! He has been leading tours for many years, and is fantastic! After that, we boarded the coach and drove to the Chateau Fountainbleu, which was a pretty big castle! Napoleon I lived there for quite a while and there were many different rooms to walk through that still had the original furniture inside. After we were through exploring the castle, we were on our way back to Paris. We checked into our hotel and then went on the Metro (which is like the subway system of Paris) to the Trocadero stop which has an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. Let me tell you, there is something amazing about sitting and eating a Nutella banana crepe in front of the Eiffel Tower. It feels very surreal... :) It was also pretty cool to practice my French a little bit! I remember enough from high school to communicate, so it was really awesome to be able to ask for directions and order food with an all-French conversation!
