We started off the morning with a delicious breakfast. Have I mentioned that I am obsessed with the yogurt here? Sooo much better than American yogurt!! Then we made our way to visit Westminster Abbey, which is the official church of the Church of England. The Queen presides over this church, and they hold all of the royal coronations and weddings in the chapel here. It also receives quite a bit of attention for all the famous people that are buried there, including Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth I, Bloody Mary, many other kings and queens of England, C. S. Lewis, George Frederick Handel, the Bronte sisters, Robert and Elizabeth Browning, Lewis Carroll, Isaac Newton, and many other well know people! They also keep the famous coronation chair there that the new monarch sits on during the ceremony. It was amazing to be in a place that so many important people have also visited. Unfortunately, we were not permitted to take pictures inside the Abbey, but I did take a few outside. It was gorgeous!!

Harrods and War Horse
We attended our classes this morning, and we only three left after today! Then Lauren and I decided to check out the huge store here called Harrods. It is like a really expensive and classy mall/department store with lots of designer merchandise. They also had some fantastic themed rooms, like the Lego room, in which Tyler would go crazy, and the chocolate room, with the real Godiva Chocolate that Hanna would absolutely love! :) It was hard not to think of my family while being there, it was incredible! This evening our class had tickets to see the play War Horse. It is similar to the movie, but from what I've heard the live play was much better. :) It was very very sad, and yes I cried, but it was definitely worth seeing. All in all, it was another wonderful day here in London.
Lego sets covered the ENTIRE room, Ty Ty! :)
The Chocolate Room!
Of course we had to try some! It was probably the only thing we could afford in there! :)
Just some fun before the show.. :) Good one Lauren!

The Isle of Wight
Early this morning we rode a car ferry across the ocean from Portsmouth to reach the Isle of Wight. This island off the coast of England was used for many things, but we got to visit a few places of particular significance. Our first stop was Carisbrooke Castle, where King Charles I was held for an entire year before he was executed by his own country. We then loaded up the coach and went to visit the Osborne House, which was a vacation house for Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and their families. It still strongly resembles a palace, but that doesn't surprise me. It was beautiful, inside and out. One of the things that I liked most about this house and the grounds surrounding it was the evidence of Victoria and Albert's strong relationship and commitment to parenting. The Swiss Cottage, which is between the beach and the Osborne House, was mainly used as a place of instruction for their children. They were each given their own small section of land to learn how to garden. They even had their own personalized wheelbarrows in the shed! The girls often practiced baking in this cottage, and the boys would learn carpentry skills. Though they were royalty, Victoria and Albert still thought it was important to teach their children how to work and do everyday tasks for themselves. This is probably one of my favorite places that we have visited so far because of the amazing sights we saw and the great message of family that it portrays.

Queen Victoria's "Bathing Machine" to ensure complete modesty. This changing room could be wheeled directly into the water so she wouldn't have to expose her ankles when getting in the water.
