The Long Trek to Brighton Beach!

Seriously though... today was LONG.  We got an extra early start at 7:00 AM.  So that was fun.  Our first stop was at a small Norman village called Rye.  It was cold and raining and no one really wanted to get off the bus.  The professors wanted us to "experience the village," so of course that means finding a place for hot chocolate. :) And let me just say, it was good hot chocolate too!!  Our next stop was Bodiam Castle.  This castle consisted of a strong outer wall with ruins inside, all surrounded by a moat.  It was similar to a lot of the other castles we have seen, but we still had a blast taking fun pictures. :) We then went to the site of the Battle of Hastings, which is where William the Conquerer and the Normans overtook the English crown in 1066.  We took a scenic walk around the entire site, and it is actually really pretty.  After that, we finally arrived in Brighton!!  We toured the Royal Pavilion as a class.  This palace was occupied by George IV, and later for a short time by Queen Victoria and her family.  The outside of the palace was built after an Indian style, while the interior is decorated in a Chinese fashion.  Then we checked into our hotel and changed into our swimming suits for the evening.  We had a delicious dinner at a Jamie Oliver Italian restaurant, and then hit the beach!  It was much too cold to swim, but the water was beautiful.  We decided to take a walk on the pier, and there was a lot to do.  They had shops, food, arcade games, carnival rides, and all sorts of cool places to visit.  After ordering Churros and Nutella to share, we went on a big ride with our group of Me, Lauren, Hailey, Bailey, Kathryn, and Hayli.   We probably shouldn't have done it in that order, but it was okay because no one got sick. :) In conclusion: Brighton is beautiful, and though it was busy, today was pretty dang great!
